Neighborhood Spotlight - Spanish Oaks Austin TX

Neighborhoods Carrie Benuska Leinen August 22, 2023

Living in the Lake Travis area, west of Austin, TX, is a delight. Close enough to downtown to enjoy a night on South Congress or to take a shopping expedition to The Domain, the Lake Travis area is an oasis. The rolling hills, many trees, and open green spaces create a restful and scenic environment. Blessed with the highly ranked Lake Travis ISD, the area is a go-to for families with school-aged children, but it is also an ideal place to retire. There is a wide variety of housing in the area at different price points. Some of the poshest homes are tucked away in the beautiful gated Spanish Oaks Austin TX community.

Spanish Oaks, just outside Bee Cave, TX, was built in 2005 on 900 acres of tree-studded Hill Country land. With top-notch security and resort-style amenities, Spanish Oaks Austin TX, attracts celebrities, industry leaders, and social media influencers. Homes start at 2,500 square feet, though the average is 5,000 square feet. The average lot size for a Spanish Oaks home is over an acre, creating a sense of expansiveness. What makes this community extra appealing is its proximity to downtown Austin. Set off Highway 71, it is a short 20-minute drive (depending on traffic) to downtown. Yet, with 15,000 acres of permanently protected nature preserves surrounding the community and a wide assortment of hiking and biking trails, it feels like you are a world away from an urban center.

Spanish Oaks Austin TX is built around the Bobby Weed-designed Spanish Oaks Golf Course. The course seamlessly blends with its Texas Hill Country environment and utilizes the natural topography to create a challenging course for even the most discriminating golfer. Shortly after opening, it received praise as "One of the Best Private Courses in America." The Spanish Oaks Clubhouse also provides fine and casual dining for the community.

Spanish Oaks Austin TX has you covered for those who enjoy water-related activities. The lavish Pool Pavilion is a resort-style pool complex with a full grille, sand volleyball court, basketball court, and more. Although many Spanish Hills Austin TX homes have private pools, the Pool Pavilion is a social space ideal for families with kids. For those who love fishing, the community also offers a fully-stocked private lake called "Fish Camp." Filled with five species of native fish, including trophy largemouth bass, this "catch and release" lake provides fun for residents of all ages.

The community is minutes from Bee Cave's Hill Country Galleria. Filled with restaurants, shops, a movie theater, and an open event space, the Hill Country Galleria is a highlight. There are also plans for a new development called "Village at Spanish Oaks." Just adjacent to the housing community, the Village is an 80-acre community expected to include retail, office, and restaurant space, a plaza, an inn, and residential spaces.

As of August 22, 2023, eleven homes are on the market in Spanish Oaks Austin TX. Ranging from $2,495,000 to $5,750,000, the average Spanish Oaks home for sale is currently 5,445 square feet sitting on a lot just short of an acre. No different than the rest of the U.S. and stemming from the rise in interest rates, home sales volume is down in Austin TX. The current group of Spanish Oaks homes for sale has been on the market for an average of 105 days. There are opportunities for home buyers for sure!
